Women’s Wellbeing Weekend:
Skipton, North Yorkshire

Fully funded weekend retreat for you to walk, explore, relax and connect.

As part of the YHA Festival of Walking 2024, from 4 – 6 October 2024, Idaraya Life C.I.C is hosting a weekend for women to de-stress, explore the beautiful surroundings and connect with themselves and other women. We will be in shared accommodation YHA Malham, Skipton, North Yorkshire.

Cost:
Fully Funded – Includes accommodation, food, activities and materials used.
(A donation starting from £10 would be appreciated – This is not a requirement to attend)

Age:
Women aged 18 and Over (including Trans Women and non-binary people)

Target Audience:
We are prioritising women based in Wigan, Leigh and Makerfield. We will welcome women from Greater Manchester at large. 

Transport:
Unlike previous sessions, we are not providing transport but will be arranging car-pools depending on availability. Please indicate your needs on the registration form.

What will we be doing:
Friday, 4 October 2024: Arrive around 6pm ( Dinner is at 7:30pm)
Saturday. 5 October 2024: Mindfulness activities (forest bathing, meditation), Walking (Around the cave and waterfalls), Craft Workshops (Indigo Tie Dye) and plenty of time to socialise.
Sunday, 6 October 2024: We will relax, gather, reflect and explore Malham. We will leave after lunchtime at 3pm.

Accommodation:
Based on shared room accommodation, maximum occupancy 4.

Food:
This is a Self-Catering site and we will be cooking our meals together.
All meals included in the funding (including a packed lunch for when we go for our walk).

*A full detailed itinerary will be provided on arrival; all activities are suitable for beginners and those with limited mobility.*

Why is this funded weekend happening?

The YHA (Youth Hostel Association) has provide funding to Idaraya Life C.I.C to host a retreat at a YHA location in the UK as part of the Festival of Walking encouraging us to walk and enjoy our local landscape. Idaraya Life C.I.C provides access to mental wellbeing activities which includes exploring the outdoors and connecting with other women. We have a specific interest in engaging women who work and volunteer in the community or wouldn’t usually have the means or skills to attend weekends away. 


What do I need to bring?

*This is a rough guide and not an exhaustive list. The weather can change quickly so it’s best to be prepared. Remember your comfy clothes to relax in as well as your outdoor kit. *ACTIVITIES WILL BE CONFIRMED CLOSER TO THE DATE*

General (for all activities)

  • Sunscreen
  • Light Clothes for daytime warmth
  • Warm clothes, including hat & gloves
  • Any medication required
  • Towel

Is it really for all women?

This wellbeing weekend is for all women, including trans women and non-binary people. We are particularly keen on having a multi-cultural, multi-generational space where we connect with women from a diverse range of backgrounds. Equipment Walking Activities

  • Waterproof Jacket & trousers
  • Appropriate attire for the predicted weather. For all land activities we recommend long trousers.
  • Warm jumper or fleece, long sleeves
  • Walking boots with ankle support (Please let us know if you don’t have walking boots as we may be able to lend you some for the weekend)

Do you provide transport?

Of sorts. We expect you to make your way but are happy to arrange carpools for people travelling from similar areas.


Food

We will provide food that complies with the dietary requirements shared.


Accomodation

Rooms are expected to accommodate 4 women. If this should change, you will be duly informed.


How is Health and Safety managed?

As we’ll be staying in shared accommodation to make sure all our guests feel safe and comfortable, we ask that every woman shares their needs on the registration form.

How do I register?

Register your interest in a place by completing the registration form, by 16 August 2024, Places will be offered on 20 August 2024. Once we receive your completed form half the places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and the remaining half the places will be allocated at random
Once a place is offered, Please accept and confirm your place by 26 August 2024. If not accepted by this date, your place will be automatically released to the waiting list.
